Sewing a Book on Raised Cords : Bookmaking by gathering several folded sheets of rag quality paper, stabbed (punch) then sewing the apges by hand on to two sets of raised cords. This handmade book style was typical of bookmaking and bookbinding in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries.
